Anne Kilmer and I bring the ancient Sumerian lyre to our ears with this one-of-a-kind book. Anne Kilmer, professor emerita of University of California Berkeley is a world expert on ancient middle eastern history and culture. Famous for her transcription of the oldest known written music from cuneiform clay tablets, A Hurrian Cult Song, Anne chose three ancient texts about a flood, how to lull a baby to sleep and an exhaltation to drinking beer. I wrote new music to these ancient texts on Anne's replica of the Silver Lyre of Ur. The book contains four pieces in all including a reprinting of A Hurrian Cult Song.
